Juran, Kimutis, Meyer, Morrison and Torre are Newest Dukes
Eleventh year baseball coach Mike Wilson announced today (Tuesday) the signing of five baseball players to national letters of intent to play for Duquesne in 2005. Ryan Juran (Glenshaw, PA/Shaler), Patrick Kimutis (Washington, PA/Trinity), Keith Meyer (Pittsburgh, PA/Schenley), Eric Morrison (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) and Bill Torre (South Park, PA/South Park) are the newest Dukes.
Juran was a letterman on a team that was section champions, the WPIAL runner-up and a state qualifier in 2003. In addition, he participated in the state play-offs for the Shaler American Legion team and is a three-year letterman in football.
Kimutis was a 2003 All-Section selection and a Pittsburgh Post-Gazette All-Star while leading the team in most offensive categories. An All-Conference football player as well, he played in the WPIAL play-offs in both sports in 2002.
Meyer is a three-year high school letterman. He was named to the Post-Gazette East Team and was listed among the batting leaders in April and May of 2003.
Morrison was an All-Section choice and a member of the Almanac Diamond Dozen. The Post-Gazette South Player of the Year was also a Tribune-Review All-Star.
Torre is a two-year starter for a team that was the 2003 section runners-up and the 2002 section champions and WPIAL runner-up. As a junior he was an All-Section choice and was third in the WPIAL in runs scored.
The Dukes finished the 2003 season at 25-29 and made Duquesne's first ever appearance at the Atlantic 10 Championship. Coach Wilson was named the College Coach of the Year by the Middle Atlantic Major League Baseball Scouts Association earlier this month.
